En exclusivité pour Russia Insider, le journaliste Eric van de Beek s’entretient avec le rédacteur en chef qui fait sensation avec ses allégations sur le paiement par la CIA de professionnels des medias allemands pour qu’ils tournent leurs articles dans un sens favorables aux buts américains.

Udo Ulfkotte révèle dans son succès de librairie “Journalistes achetés” comment on lui a “enseigné à mentir, à trahir, et à ne pas dire la vérité au public”.
L’ancien rédacteur en chef de la Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, qui est l’un des plus grands journaux allemands, était en secret employé par la CIA et les services secrets allemands, présentant les informations d’une façon biaisée favorable aux Etats-Unis et mauvaise pour leurs opposants.
Dans son dernier entretien, Ulfkotte soutient que certains médias ne sont rien d’autre que des organes de propagande de partis politiques, d’agences de services secrets,
de groupes de réflexion internationaux et d’entités de la haute finance.

“Journalistes achetés”, qui sont-ils ?
“On parle de marionnettes au bout de leur fil, de journalistes qui écrivent ou disent quoique ce soit que leurs maîtres leur dictent. Si vous regardez comment les journaux grand public rendent compte du conflit en Ukraine et si vous savez ce qu’il en est réellement, vous voyez le tableau. Les maîtres en arrière-plan poussent à la guerre avec la Russie et les journalistes occidentaux coiffent leur casque”

“Et vous étiez l’un d’entre eux, et maintenant vous êtes le premier à lancer l’alerte ?
“j’ai honte d’y avoir participé. Malheureusement, on ne peut pas changer ce qui a été fait. Quoique mes supérieurs au Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung aient approuvé ce que j’ai fait, je reste encore à blâmer. Mais oui, en effect, du mieux que je sache, je suis le premier à m’accuser et à apporter la preuve que beaucoup d’autres sont à blâmer”

Comment êtes-vous devenu un journaliste acheté ?
“Les choses ont commencé très tôt après le début de ma collaboration au Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. J’ai appris à considérer les invitations luxueuses comme tout à fait acceptables et à écrire en retour des articles positifs. Plus tard j’ai été invité par le German Marshall Fund of The United States [NdT : Fonds Marshall allemand, institution américaine] à voyager aux Etats-Unis. Ils payaient toutes mes dépenses et me mettaient en contact avec les américains qu’ils souhaitaient que je rencontre. En fait La plupart des journalistes de médias respectés et importants sont en relations étroites avec le German Marshall Fund et l’Atlantik-Brücke [NdT : Pont-Atlantique] et autres organisations dites transatlantiques. Beaucoup d’entre eux en sont même membres. Je suis un membre du German Marshall Fund. Ce qui se passe est que, une fois que vous êtes en relation, vous vous faîtes des amis avec des américains choisis. Vous pensez qu’ils sont vos amis et vous commencez à coopérer. Ils travaillent sur votre ego, et vous conduisent à vous sentir important. Et un jour l’un d’eux va vous demander ‘pouvez-vous me rendre ce service’ et un encore autre vous demandera ‘pouvez-vous me rendre ce service’ . On vous fait peu à peu subir un lavage de cerveau. J’ai fini par publier sous mon nom propre des articles écrits par des agents de la CIA et d’autres agences de renseignement, particulièrement le service de renseignement allemand”

Vous avez dit que vos supérieurs approuvaient ?
“Ils approuvaient. De mon point de vue, rétrospectivement, ils m’ont même envoyé faire l’espion. Par exemple en 1988 ils m’ont embarqué dans un avion pour l’Irak, où j’ai voyagé jusqu’à la frontière de l’Iran. En ce temps là Saddam Hussein était encore vu comme un type bien, un allié étroit des Etats-Unis, qui le soutenaient dans sa guerre contre l’Iran. A environ 35 kilomètres de la frontière, en un endroit appelé Zubaidad, j’ai observé des Iraquiens tuant et blessant des milliers d’Iraniens par des attaques au gaz. J’ai fait exactement ce que mes supérieurs m’avaient demandé de faire. J’ai fait des photos des attaques aux gaz. De retour à Francfort, mes chefs paraissaient montrer peu d’intérêt pour les atrocités dont j’avais été le témoin. Ils me permirent d’écrire un article sur le sujet, mais en limitèrent sévèrement la taille comme pour quelque chose de peu d’importance. En même temps ils me demandèrent de passer les photos que j’avais faites à l’association des entreprises chimiques allemandes à Francfort, Verband der Chemischen Industrie. Ce gaz mortel qui avait tué tant d’Iraniens était de fabrication allemande”

Quelle est votre avis sur les voyages de presse ? Les journalistes ordinairement s’excusent en disant qu’ils sont parfaitement capable de suivre leur propre jugement et qu’ils ne s’engagent envers ni rien ni personne
“J’ai participé à des milliers de voyages de presse et je n’ai jamais fait un compte rendu mauvais pour ceux qui payaient les dépenses. Vous ne mordez pas la main qui vous nourrit. C’est là que commence la corruption. Et c’est la raison pour laquelle le Spiegel ne permet pas à ses journalistes d’accepter des invitations à des voyages, sauf s’ils règlent leurs frais eux-mêmes”

Devenir un lanceur d’alertes peut avoir de sérieuses conséquences. Avez-vous des indices que des gens auraient cherché à empêcher la publication de votr livre ?
“Lorsque j’ai annoncé au Frankfurter Allgemeine que j’allais publier un livre, leurs avocats m’ont envoyé un courrier me menaçant de suites judiciaires si je publiais un quelconque nom ou secret – mais je ne m’en soucie pas. Voyez-vous, je n’ai pas d’enfant dont je doive prendre soin. Et vous devez savoir que j’ai été sévèrement blessé pendant l’attaque au gaz à laquelle j’ai assisté en Irak en 1988. Je suis le seul Allemand survivant d’ene attaque au gaz allemande. J’en souffre encore. J’ai eu trois attaques cardiaques. Je ne m’attends pas à vivre plus que quelques années.”

Dans votre livre vous mentionez beaucoup de noms de journalistes achetés. Comment vont-ils à présent ? Ont-ils été renvoyés ? Cherchent-ils à faire effacer leur nom ?
–”Aucun journaliste de la presse grand public n’est autorisé à faire de compte rendu du livre. Sinon il sera licencié. Donc nous avons un grand succès de librairie sur lequel aucun journaliste allemand a le droit d’écrire ou de parler. Encore plus choquant : nous avons de très respectés journalistes qui semblent être parti explorer les grands fonds depuis longtemps. C’est une situation intéressante. J’attendais et j’espérais qu’ils me feraient un procès devant un tribunal. Mais ils ne savent pas quoi faire. L’estimé Frankfurter Allgemeine vient juste d’annoncer qu’il allait virer 200 employés, parce qu’il perd des souscripteurs en très grand nombre et à grande vitesse. Mais ils ne me poursuivent pas. Ils savent que j’ai des preuves pour tout”

The unsong heroes of Donbass

These are the men & women that you very rarely see in the news; nor do they ask to be in the media limelight. They don't carry rifles nor wear camouflaged uniforms, yet you will find them in the conflict zone.

These are the men & women who unfailingly support their communities in the darkest hours of a vicious & brutal conflict;

These are the men & women who rescue trapped civilians, fight fires in a conflict zone; often putting themselves in great danger;

These are the teams who with calmness & dedication defuse unexploded ordnance right across a shattered land;

These are the teams that evacuate civilians to safer zones from areas under artillery or missiles attack; 

These are the men & women who literally pick up the pieces of a ruined community & endeavour to give civilians the essential amenities to sustain some sort of life;

These are the teams that assist in repairing heavily damaged infrastructure;

They are there on hand,day in & day out, 24 hours, every week, monthly since last late springtime.

Of course, these were the people that had the gruesome task  to recover the bodies of MH17 back in July.

You probably don’t realize the hardship that they have to accept being on the front line.

In other parts of the world, they would be either part of the fire fighting services or under the banner of civil protection, (or both). They are unsung heroes in times of disaster or emergency, but to do this work in the midst of a war, is a testament to a courage & dedication beyond words.

Notes:  It was a difficult task to ascertain the information in a succint manner due to a mismatch of geographical place names, typos & vagueness of location or direction of UAF convoys.  In fact it was impossible to put a date to the convoys, since 2 of reports did not give any date. So I put the date of the SMM report as the date for the convoys, however this isn't a real valid date for the actual movement of some of the convoys.

On a number of ocassions, little information was actually specified by the SMM as to a direction of a convoy or its final destination - here are some extracts from their report:

" SMM observed a pre-assembled", or "The SMM monitored the convoy as far as a location described by the convoy commander as the end-point."

"The SMM intends to re-visit the location..." 

 "The SMM followed the convoys to separate locations described by the convoy commanders as the end-points."

Context

As stated in the press, 600 paratroopers from the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade will arrive in Ukraine to train the Ukrainian National Guard.  U.S. Army Europe Commander Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges said that the training location is Yavariv training center in Western Ukraine.  $19 million has been allocated by the US administration, from the Global Security Contingency Fund to help build up and train the Ukrainians.

The US military training of the Ukrainian National Guard units is really an example of the usual US-style "democracy building."The US is convinced that by training Kiev's Donbass "Anti-Terrorist Operation" shock troops will significantly help Ukraine to be more democratically empowered.

The Western media & US administration alike lavish a lot of attention on the entity called the National Guard, without revealing too much detail on the individuals units are supposedly part of it.  Nor do they discuss the ultra-nationalist nature or deeply entrenched fascist ideology of some of the units.  These "National Guard" willingly provide the backbone of the ATO forces,  where they routinely shell, kill & plunder civilians in the dissenting regions of Donetsk & Lugansk.   On the whole, western politcians, journalists & NGOs also pretend that there are very little human rights abuses taking place in Donbass.  It took Amnesty International well over 6 months before releasing a report critical of one of the units, the Aidar Batallion.

 We don’t need to go far back in history, to see similar examples of where truly brutal groups were financed & trained by the US. The KLA in Kosovo,   the vicious so-called moderate rebels in Syria, the 1970’s nasty death squads of Central & South America, trained at the School of Americas. Now the US is set to repeat this technique, to a selection of Ukrainians units part of the National Guard.

One significant participant in the ATO operations is Right Sector,  (Pravy Sektor or Правий сектор). From out of the chaos of Maidan, Right Sector activists helped to form their own ad-hoc paramilitary units, based on Territorial Defense Battalions such as the Donbass Battalion.  Subsequently these morphed into the National Guard in November 2014. Other Right Sector members formed part of paramilitary groups including Dnipro, Aidar.  They are purportedly all under the umbrella of the Interior Ministry & are considered as the National Guard. The only exception is Dmytro Yarosh’s own paramilitary unit.



Remember that the Right Sector is only an accredited political party since March 2014, under the leadership of leader Dmytro Yarosh, also a member of the Ukrainian parliament. So essentially the National Guard can be considered part of their military wing.  Politically, it didn’t do well in the 2014 elections, however historically it has had stronger support from their homeland in Western Ukraine, with Lviv part of its central core.  A tiny minor core of Western Ukrainians fanatics, with US backing,  helped to violently overthrow , (notice the black & red Right Sector insignia & flags), a democratically elected government, a year before the next general elections were due. These fanatics have openly stated that they don’t think much of the EU,  yet the EU politicans pretend that they represent "European values".

Dmytro Yarosh, received just under 1 percent of the vote in the 2014 general election. The main issue is not the very low voting turnout, which the pro Kiev junta trolls always point to as their proof of “there are no fascists” meme, but rather Right Sector’s ability to punch well above its weight within Ukrainian society.   The group's omnipresence has progressively filtered through Ukrainian politics & law enforcement.  They act as the enforcers of the Kiev regime, any dissent is met with violence and hate. They have labelled Russian speakers as ‘undesirables’ , worthy of not just targeted death threats but also actual killings.  The tragic events in Odessa & Mariupol bear witness to the brutality of both the combination of Right Sector activists & the National Guard.  Right Sector activists are with total impunity running a terror campaign throughout Ukraine.


Effectively, Right Sector & the National Guard are two sides of the same Ukrainian nationalist coin. This helps to explain why the regular Ukrainian army is being left out, despite the fact that it obviously also urgently needs training & equipment.  The regular army lacks the motivation & hardcore ideological cadre that would make it a tough fighting force.  Moreover, the National Guard is getting more than their “fair” share of modern military equipment. Moreover, there have been armed stand-offs between Right Sector activists & the army.

The Kiev government is totally unrepentant about the deployment of such units as part of its internal security forces.  Western media is also unrepentant as well, judging by the absolute or positive images chosen to describe the units.  Take the example of the Daily Mail: “The Donbass Battalion, a unit with Ukraine's National Guard engaged in battles around Lohvynove”.   This is the same unit, who help to block humanitarian aid from reaching Donbass & kidnap & kill civilians.

West Ukrainian Right Sector activists have gone on the rampage in central Kiev, demolished Russian banks, beaten up Russian speakers, dumped “lustrated” individuals into rubbish dumps.  They continually lash out hysterically at anyone who does not share their view on Ukraine & rant on about Russian aggression. In short, Right Sector is a group of hired thugs in the service of Kiev & Washington, who contributed to high levels of aggression & violence in Ukrainian society.  Yet when these same activists don the uniform of the National Guard, become in the eyes of the US administration an individual in a unit designed to “maintain rule of law” in Ukraine.

It is not surprising to have seen the US army deployed to Yavoriv Training Area, near to Lviv, back in September 2014. This was part of Exercise Rapid Trident, a major USAREUR multinational exercise.  What’s the difference between USAREUR & NATO?  Very little.  USAREUR will once more send a team of advisers to Western Ukraine in spring 2015, to train National Guard units. Why?  Well here is a quote from the Pentagon- “ it is part of a U.S. State Department effort to assist Ukraine in strengthening its law enforcement capabilities, conduct internal defense and maintain rule of law”. Please note the last item, “maintain rule of law”, in the hands of the Ukrainian National Guard, underpinned by Right Sector.  This is really just a very wafer thin veneer of  political correctness on the part of the US administration.

Unofficially, the U.S. & NATO are already training, out of the media spotlight, under the guise of "contractors” no doubt.    Elements of the National Guard 'combo' are also ideally suited in “asymmetrical warfare”, as behind the lines sabotage & infiltration irregular squads.

The US administration & Right Sector - Uncomfortable bedfellows maybe for them is it a marriage of convenience for not just the short- term but long term.  It has been the case since the end of the 2nd World War.
